Today I am cranky. There is some cause from the children, but I suspect it is more a problem within myself. But I am catching myself before losing it at the children and writing this post. I can not tell you how many times writing out my thanks has helped me stay sane and calm.
1. I am thankful for my Thankful Journal which I can go back and read. It really shifts my mindset when I take time to read back through the journal.
2. I am thankful we are not living the horrendous experience we were living last January when my husband was dying and we didn't know it and our medical team couldn't give us any answers.
3. I am so thankful for the medical team at OHSU who knew exactly what was happening to him and how to help immediately. I am thankful they continue to be supportive and helpful.
4. I am thankful for the tasty food we have to eat. I am thankful for the opportunity to teach my daughter to cook. I am thankful this tasty food is helping DH and I lose weight.
5. I am thankful we're almost done with DS's first semester. He's got 3 finals left. I am praying we get a break from school before the next semester, but any way you cut it, he only has 3 more assignments for this semester and we're done with it.
6. I am thankful for the portable room heater we have. I love being able to carry it from room to room.
7. I am thankful for all the Jesus Tunes on my iTunes. Between my iMac and my iPod I have music throughout the house and that is a huge blessing for me.
8. I am thankful I do not need to take DS to the dentist today. He needs a cavity filled and DH can take him. I get to stay home and that is a blessing as well.
9. I am thankful we homeschool and I set our coursework and days. I can completely rearrange today if need be.
10. I am thankful I get time alone this afternoon. The girls have art class; DH and DS go to the dentist. I get to be home alone for a bit. I need to plot how to take advantage of that little window.
11. I am thankful my body is strong enough and healthy enough to walk 4 miles today [which I'll need to do to pick up the girls]. I am thankful for built in exercise like that.
12. I am so very thankful my God is with me every step of the way and wants to know all the details of my life and thoughts. So many times I've confessed nasty, selfish, mean thoughts to Him and that naked honesty removes barriers in my relationship with Him. I am thankful for that.

I hopped over from Heavenly Homemakers to read this sweet post on the things you are thankful for. Doesn't being thankful help so?
ReplyDeleteIt really is amazing how focusing on what we're thankful for can radically change our mood and attitude.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find something fun to do just for you in your window of time today!
Thank you so much for continuing to link up each week. I so look forward to your posts!
Oh I understand!! I even feel grouchy when listing why I am thankful works, some days ;-) I guess that's why God tells us to pray for our enemies...God is good.
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful for a total difference in your Jan experience. Homeschooling does rock for all those reasons! And a total YEA for hubby doing an appointment. That is a blessing!
That is what I so love about our Lord. We can be grumpy, sad, happy or joyful... and He loves us always! Thank you for sharing your Thankful Thursday! Simply God's Girl &
