In my life this week… ODD came down with the bug that had already hit DH, me and YDD. It's lingering longer with her but hasn't hit the boy or his buddy. Praying that it doesn't. This week, I've had 4 kids in the house, two 17YO boys who are eerily similar. It's been a little nuts, but we've had lots of fun.

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share… last summer the girls lost their memorized verses because we didn't recite all summer long. This summer, I've had them recite whatever they had memorized every other week. ODD has done great with that, but YDD asked to recite every week. I am very pleased that this approach has really helped them retain what they worked so hard on last school year.
Favorite resource this week . . . on PBS I discovered Shakespeare Uncovered: Hamlet with David Tennant. We love David Tennant, so I recorded it and ODD loved it so much she asked to watch other episodes. That's a win in my book!
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing… my aunt and uncle are visiting from Wisconsin so both Saturdays we saw them which was cool.

What we are reading . . .
ODD is working her way through the Maximum Ride series and loving it. She finished this one this week.
She whizzed through this on in a couple hours and really enjoyed it even though it was easy.
YDD is also working on this one., and loving it. She is not one to suffer through a book she doesn't like even if it highly recommended.
Things I’m working on… dehydrated tomato sauce!
This once was 15lbs tomatoes, 4 bell peppers, 3 large carrots and 3 onions. I have to admit I'm amazed at how reduced it got.
I’m thankful … we have a month of summer break still ahead of us. I am thankful I can slowly start building our routine. I am thankful I can slowly get our school area into shape cleaning out the old and bringing in the new. I am thankful for a digital planner [iCal]; I love the ease of setting up and revising schedules digitally. I am thankful we have no public school schedule for one student in the house; this is our first year of truly setting our our calendar and I am excited about that. I am thankful for the all the educational opportunities ahead of us [swim lessons, art class, field trips, service projects, all the activities of our local homeschool group].
Something I am ogling or have my eye on… a book:
